Good radios, bad battery life - with battery fixation

The battery pack contains three AA batteries, but if you read the nominal capacity (800 mAh) you will see that this is less than half the typical AA capacity . Replacing the battery with rechargeable AA batteries will more than double battery life, but you lose the ability to charge via the micro USB port. Luckily this is an easy fix: all you need is foil and tape and 3 x AA.1 NiMH rechargeable batteries. Remove the supplied battery pack from the compartment and set it aside.2. Tear and fold the foil into two small pieces about 3/8" x 1" which will close (close) two contacts inside the battery compartment. It helps if it's several layers thick for durability, but it still needs to be thin enough for an AA battery to fit in the well. 3. Cover the back of each slide pen with tape (insulator), then hold a pen in the lower left corner while inserting an AA battery. The battery contacts should be pressed against the bare foil and the insulator on the opposite side touches the radio receiver contacts.4. Place the second (middle battery) against what will probably be the bottom stick of foil, and then press the second piece of foil against the top of that battery as you slide it into place. This should leave the second stick of foil in the top right position, with the foil side exposed for the batteries.5. Insert the last battery to the top slide and check the radio. If it turns on and says it's charging when plugged into the micro USB port, then you've nailed it!
