could be improved

We installed this in a sliding door. It was easy to install and looks great. However, our cat was never able to learn how to use the plastic cat flap. The magnet was too strong and if we "helped" her through, the plastic door would fall on her tail and startle her. I contacted the company that does this hoping there is a way to remove the magnet. no They didn't have any offers. We replaced the door with a makeshift screen door and it works great. This door must be fitted with an optional fly screen. If you put it in a screen door, the sash does not have to be fixed. It would be nice if they offered a screen lock with a lightweight frame and weak magnet.
