Review on πŸ”§ Gates 31561 Radiator Cap - Enhancing Standard Performance by Todd Taniguchi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

08 Xterra hubcap, not reservoir cap.

Fits my Nissan Xterra 08 radiator. I had an issue where a small amount of coolant was evaporating and I found that this was due to my factory header tank cap losing some of its spring over the years . The cap is factory set at 14psi if the cap does not hold pressure as intended until the boiling point of the coolant drops and you lose some to evaporation. I replaced the radiator cap and reservoir cap with this one and they fixed my problem for about $10. This cap is rated at 42psi. The expansion tank cap actually relieves the pressure in the system. This Gates cap only fits on the radiator. If you want a reservoir cap, you will need a different cap with a 16psi spring. 10233 is the Stant part number for it.
