These curlers were ordered for our daughter with medium length hair. She's been wanting to try vintage hairstyles for a long time, so we thought these curlers would help. They are made of plastic and each curler is covered with soft "hooks" that grip the hair. These hooks make it easy to wrap hair around the curlers. You then use the clips (included) to secure each curler in place. Unfortunately, there was only one hair clip per curler, but we found you'd probably need at least two curler hooks to hold the hair. Also, we have found that these curlers are difficult to use on medium length hair but may work better on long hair. However, curlers in one set are not enough for a mop of long hair. Two sentences would be much better. These curlers are huge and impossible to sleep with. It's better to put them on and use a hair dryer or hair dryer so they can dry in less time if I just want to wear them for hours throughout the day until they dry. We didn't expect them to be that big - in this case, "Jumbo" really means gigantic! Otherwise great curlers.
