Trusting Negative Reviews

First of all, I'm always wary of super negative reviews because I often think they're exaggerated. That's how I felt about reviews of this product when people cited its instability and build quality, at least until I got mine today. To be honest, it seems whoever assembled this thing on the assembly line either ran out of parts, interest, or motivation to finish the job. Right out of the box, the top plate that lifts the bike swung up and down at least two inches in each direction. So much so that under no circumstances would I ever put the bike on something so unstable. Upon closer inspection it was obvious that the nut holding the scissor lift in place was only finger tight because I loosened it slightly. But I found that the vibration was coming from the wheels that sat in the channel that moved the scissors up and down. Three of them were missing the shims that the others had, allowing the axle shaft to move from side to side about half an inch, forcing the top plate to move freely. I thought of taking it apart and putting it back together properly after a quick trip to the hardware store, but I'm just not going to mess with a product I bought brand new. I may have received a defective unit, but I will send it back for a replacement free of charge.
