Review on Penn Plax Perch Stainless Feeding by Heather May

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice travel stand.

It took about four months from the first purchase of this playfish to the first use by my cockatiels - typical cockatiel mentality "new ugly". Following the advice of others, I just use one of the two trays that came with it and line the bottom with newspaper. This works very well. To get my birds interested in sleeping I have put their favorite food in the bowl and will probably do so for a few more weeks. There is no flexibility as to the position or location of the perch. It looks like natural wood, but it isn't. It is mostly artificial wood that has been burned to resemble natural wood and sanded to create facets to make it easier to hold and fight the imperfections caused by perch surfaces that are too smooth. It's quite portable and easy to assemble and disassemble, so I definitely recommend it for travel. Both of my birds tend to fight when they are on the top perch at the same time so I will probably buy a second one before using it in a hotel room so each bird can have their own. As with cockatiels, you should buy it a few months before your trip and install it right away so they can see it and get used to it. The last thing you want to do is scare your bird even more with something too new.

Pros
  • Perch includes two stainless steel feeding bowls that can hold both food and a water bowl.
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for seniors
