Review on ๐Ÿšฝ Bemis 500EC 390 Lift Off Toilet: A Reliable and Convenient Bathroom Essential by Shane Minter

Less than two years later and it's disgustingly dirty

I'm not posting a photo because we all know what a dirty toilet seat looks like, right? Our previous seat (probably also a Bemis as it was original for a new toilet at the time) lasted 12 years before I had to replace it. Based on the positive reviews for this seat, I bought it in December 2018. This seat is in our master bathroom in a family of two adults. It is used several times a day. The fairing comes off if you use something more industrial like Comet to clean it. But, you say, then why use Comet to clean it up? Because nothing else could remove the stains. The underside gets dirty easily, but cleaning is a nightmare. Regular cleaning does not remove stains. Almost two years later we have a toilet seat that looks like it survived the war. The signs of wear on the top are very visible, while the bottom has stains that cannot be removed. It's embarrassing that people use it. I'll try plastic next. You know what - heck, I'll post pics. If you're buying this toilet seat, you need to know what you're getting into. By the way, this photo is after cleaning.

Pros
  • QUICK AND EASY TO REMOVE: To clean or replace
Cons
  • Expensive
