I've scanned over 15,000 pages of sheet music since I bought it. I bought it because it was one of the cheapest, with a pedal and the ability to work with A3 books. Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase. Although I had many frustrations with its quirks. First of all, the picture quality is good, but not outstanding. So if you're trying to scan photos or something more detailed than just text, I definitely recommend spending more money on something nicer. The other big problem is the software, which is very frustrating to use. It appears to be a completely different program than what comes with the more expensive model. This is hardly usable, but the scanner will only interact with it. You're definitely stuck with your original image capture software. Almost every filter, like black and white or grayscale, does strange things to an image that are difficult to describe. Each function, like uninstall and the like, requires a lot of clicks as well as a lot of figuring out how to bypass less useful aspects of the program. For the most part, it didn't affect the end result enough to make me angry about it. That's because I literally only care about the black and white sheet music and not the cover art or anything. HOWEVER, I quickly learned to turn off all automatic program settings. It's just awful to recognize the included fingertips. Using them leaves strange shapes that should help the program identify and remove them. Instead, it's best to just use white gloves and hope for the best. The program doesn't recognize page borders well either. It keeps trying to halve the pages, only scans one side, or doesn't crop at all, leaving a huge margin on one side. Now I just manually place the cut zones for the left and right sides. It's a bit slower, but the end result is much more comfortable. Also, the laser page alignment feature is clearly rubbish. The only edit I've ever seen is to distort this crazy wavy line effect towards the inside of each page. This effectively renders the music unreadable in these areas. It occurred to me that maybe the software was only designed for typical text, but when I tried to scan novels and magazines I got the same result. This really annoys me because it's impossible to turn off the auto-leveling feature without merging all the auto-functions together. and white and the like in Adobe. This takes a long time and slows down this type of scanner somewhat. If you're trying to digitize a large volume of large format documents at minimal cost, this scanner might be for you. If you can afford it, be sure to choose a higher level than this. This will save you a lot of frustration.
