Works with external 12v solar battery

I wanted to see what was happening at my cabin in winter so I bought this and an external 12v solar battery. You need an adapter like Onite 2 Pcs DC Plug for PSP 2 3 4 Male (from 5.5 x 2.1mm to 4.0 x 1.7mm) to plug in and the adapter is a bit too thick to push through to go the Meidase hole, so I reamed the hole a bit. Note: Batteries are useless if you have an external battery. During the winter, I set it up to take photos every hour from 7am to 7pm and used Windows Photo to stitch six months of photos (2,000+ photos) into one MP4. It worked incredibly well. People were impressed and bought an identical setup to try and replicate my success. However, I also bought a second device in order to be able to shoot two winter films at different locations. It's also a great setup for filming a construction project in slow motion, taking a photo every ten minutes. I use this setup in upstate New York so the solar array left outside is covered in snow. As a result, I placed the solar panel in the west window and the camera in the window as well. This configuration eliminated the snowpack. I'll try outside, but under the roof of a woodshed.

Pros
  • Wildlife and travel cameras
Cons
  • There are downsides
