I have used them on a BMW with M sport suspension. It was possible to compress the springs, but I found it difficult to compress the spring evenly and not interfere with the bumpers. As a result, it was difficult to properly install the spring in the coil component above the assembly. On the plus side, the compressors don't warp and the threads hold up well with just a small amount of anti-seize paste. I've never found it unsafe. I suspect the compressors would be better on typical compact sedan or midsize sedan springs.
