Review on LavaLock® High Temp Vision Replacement Correct by Chris Bailey

I recently replaced the factory seal on my Vision which lasted about 1 year. I cook with my egg 2 times a week on average. Most food is grilled at 350-400°F with about 12 long and slow smokes per year and 12 high-temperature (600-700+F) pizza sessions. Prep: I removed the original gasket with a razor blade and cleaned both mounting surfaces. I then cleaned both surfaces with rubbing alcohol until the paper towels were no longer discolored. It took quite a long time to completely erase both of them. Installation: I started from the bottom. I unwrapped and removed about 2 feet of padding. I pressed firmly on the 2-3 inch section and then moved counter-clockwise, using my left hand to center the gasket on the face and my right hand to hold the gasket roller. Once about halfway through the spacer was in place, I removed another foot or so. and continued the process until the whole bowl was done. I cut the spacer off the roll leaving an overlap of about an inch. I then trimmed the spacer until it met up perfectly with the other end. I then repeated the same process on the lid. I closed the lid and left it for a day. The pad works fine. I've toasted it about ten times since installing and the sealer stays in place and seals well. I got the grill up to 700F for a pizza one evening and the gasket started to burn/brown and harden slightly around the inside of the gasket. It handles heat better than the factory gasket but I'm not sure how many 700F cycles they will last but I will learn for sure!NOTE: The adhesive backing is painful at first. no. It starts at the factory, which is good, but if you're making your first cut from a roll I'd suggest removing the backing by cutting and folding so you don't have to try and start over. Looks like there is enough material to redesign the top and possibly the bottom vent.
