This is a step forward for my 2 year old. She has many educational musical toys where you press a button on a phone or submarine and she plays or lights up. She also has many physical toys. This camera combines these elements in a very pleasant way. While everyone uses cell phones as cameras, there is something really cool about the way this camera makes sounds and mechanically ejects picture cards or zooms, which I find enjoyable and my toddler finds fascinating. At this point, she doesn't pay too much attention to the details of the turtle, stingray, or other animal, just inserting a picture into the slot (it only moves in one direction, requiring a bit more thinking and motor skills than her baby toys) or spinning of dials and pressing buttons really gets them thinking. Most of the camera works the same as the real thing, but it takes a little imagination. The build quality is excellent, solid and secure. The toy worked immediately. This is a great gift idea from a toddler to a much older child.
