So far so good - solar and wind power

I live in the Sunshine State, hurricane season is upon us. I have multiple gas generators but at 5 gallons every 8 hours I wanted to switch them to solar. Not only did I have to power small home appliances like fans, TVs, small fridges, etc. I also had to power a 5000 BTU air conditioner and a 9cc freezer. ft., saw, 1.5 hp air compressor. and other larger instruments. I was originally looking for a 24V 3500W pure sine wave inverter but decided to take a chance and buy the HF 2430U60-100. I really liked the charge controller/inverter combo, one less headache for about the same price. I have eight panels rated at 100 watts at 80 volts idle with direct sunlight for about 8 hours a day feeding a 24 volt battery from four 12 volt AGMs. 100 Ah So far this device has handled everything with ease. No hissing in instruments, no hesitation in larger instruments. I turned the saw on at the same time as the freezer, refrigerator, ceiling fan, and TV. I had it for about 4 weeks and finally I got it. The setup was pretty simple and straight forward. I'm not an expert and consider myself quite capable, but you will definitely need the user manual to adjust the settings and it's a bit confusing. I ran direct solar for a while to try things out, but have since switched to hybrid mode, which is pretty nice. I will probably add two more batteries to keep the solar system running 24/7. Meanwhile, I will manage the load as needed. Pleasantly surprised. Might be worth trying.
