Review on 🌐 D-Link EBR-2310 Ethernet Broadband Router: Effortlessly Fast Internet Connectivity by Ryan Reed

Fails its sole purpose: packet routing

I ordered this item to replace my existing router with one that handles a 10+Mbps WAN port. Since I already have a separate firewall, all I need to do is provide simple routing from the connection I get from my ISP to my firewall. I assembled and set up the device. Everything worked fine for a while, then DNS attempts timed out, downloads failed, and pings didn't always get a response. After extensive troubleshooting, I determined that the new router was the cause of the problem. So I put the old router back in place and asked Revain for a replacement. Much to my surprise, the new router had the same problem. A very simple way for me to cause router instability: 1) Configure the router. 2) Connect the computer connected to the router. 3) Download and install "namebench", a free DNS server tester. 4) Start pinging the external address you know should reply, like [.]. 5) Run namebench and see the ping start to go away. Do not buy this router. You will be disappointed and frustrated when it stops working. For my small business, I finally bought this Cisco Small Business RV042 Dual WAN VPN Router - Router + 4 Port Switch - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet - External. It's 4 times more expensive but much more useful because it really works.
