Review on 🎒 Heather Graphite Minimal Casual Daypacks by North Face by Tiffany Pine

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Maybe the perfect backpack.

Well, the thing is impressive. I did a lot of research looking for a new backpack and settled on this and the High Sierra Fat Boy, which I also wrote a review for. I went with the Fat Boy first as it has more gallons of space and is about half the price which seemed like a good deal to me. While this backpack can hold more stuff than it looks, it just isn't comfortable. In my opinion, this Recon backpack has everything you could want in a backpack at this price point - and more. let me explain. First, it's the shape of the pack. It's "tall" rather than wide, and that's very important. When loaded, the weight is perfectly distributed and stays "up and down" rather than forcing the pack out and making you feel like you have to work against it to keep from tipping backwards. Combine this design with chest and waist straps and this piece isn't going anywhere unless you want it to be - very good for hiking etc. Next is comfort which is on point. The straps are nice and thick but not "soft", they feel solid. They're perforated at the top of the shoulders to keep them breathable in hot weather. The material over the foam resembles the thicker mesh of a basketball jersey, which is very comfortable and allows freedom of movement. There are some really well thought out foam "pockets" on the back that have channels for ventilation. There's some kind of board on the back (let's say plastic) that keeps the pack's shape no matter what's in the main compartment. I've seen a few other reviews describing this package as "heavy" and I totally disagree - I think this board might feel heavy, but with the package loaded it helps manage the weight nicely to distribute. and evenly. It puts no pressure on the shoulders at all. After all, the subjects are incredibly useful and well thought out. Particularly impressive is the additional pocket, which extends to the bottom of the bag and offers plenty of space. The various pockets and compartments in this piece can hold just about anything you put in there. The main compartment is not as wide from front to back as in other backpacks, but it is very deep and can still hold a lot. front mesh pocket for quick access and two bottle holders. It's just a well-designed and very comfortable backpack that costs $75. The only small issue I have is that it definitely won't stay upright on its own and of course needs to be leaned against or hung on something, but either way it's really picky. Another thing to note is that Revain's price varies wildly based on color choices, which sucks, but it's out of their control anyway.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
