Exactly what I needed except for a few nuances. until he died.

EDIT 2: I ended up being sent 4 times for the same issue. The battery could not hold a charge. Every time they send it back it's just as bad. Last time I spoke to them I told them very clearly that the problem was with the battery and asked to replace the bad battery, but the support team insisted on checking the entire device. Most likely they never tested the battery. They probably did a quick "check if it works" test and then sent it back. I think I'd rather say the company tells me they won't fix this than pretend. .Now when I check my voicemail, the entire device goes offline. I can turn it back on, but any attempt to check my voicemail causes the entire device to turn off again. Right now I don't need it at all. Just a glorified paperweight. I will never buy an Asus product again. I don't think they have the ability to make a quality product without defects, and I don't think they have the ability to test and fix a faulty product. under repair. Asus only pays for shipping it back to me and requires me to pay to insure the high cost of postage. So I've spent an extra 50.00 over the year, a total of 6 to 8 weeks of not using the unit this year and the last time I received it it was in even worse condition. The battery no longer holds a charge. However, the customer service is very polite. Although there is no longer a guarantee because it was not treated properly the last time, it works for me. However, I can have a higher price. _______________ Initial Review: I bought this item to replace my phone and for the most part it certainly does the job. It worked right out of the box and even included a 20 minute battery if I wanted to run around the house with it. A little big for mobile use, but I was able to coordinate long distances with it. The video quality was very good and the custom camera settings proved useful. When I moved the camera it twitched a bit, but the video was mostly stable. I tested it by running Netflix video on one computer and a few bandwidth-intensive applications on another, as well as using wired internet through a router. The sound and video quality was not compromised in any way, so it proved to be very reliable. It took me a while to figure out that simply calling a Skype contact's phone number didn't activate the video. I need to contact her using her skype name. One feature I really liked was that the screen turns into a clock after about a minute and the entire screen turns off after a while of inactivity. Then it turns on when a call comes in or when I touch it. It was a very good power saver. However. It would be better if there was a single button I could press to force it into this mode. Another feature I liked was that the power strip seemed to have its own battery. I noticed that the blue light stays on even after briefly unplugging it, which suggests using an extra small battery to avoid power surges. My favorite feature was that there was an option to prevent the video from turning on automatically when a call was answered. This way I never have to worry about looks and can mute or unmute the video at any time during a call without interrupting anything. One feature I did NOT like was the automatic microphone volume. People often tell me that I sound like I'm speaking into a glass. I can't manually adjust the microphone volume, so it fluctuates during a call depending on how loud I'm speaking. However, this feature is very practical, which is why I still give it 5 stars. I only wish it was as great as the quality of the speakers. In any case, it was money well spent and met all my needs.
