This is a very good sketchbook - it's a bit more "jagged" (rougher texture) than other albums of this size/format I have and I really like it. I also like natural colored paper rather than the washed out blue and white paper that many sketchbooks have. I've mostly tried colored pencil but I've also tried watercolor and gouache and they did a great job with them, surprisingly I wouldn't do it. I don't water-treat this paper, but I just painted a few strokes with Daniel Smith Moonglow and not only did it split into different colors, it even showed grain. Certainly not as strong as coarsely textured or cold-pressed watercolor paper, but it works great as an art journal or for quick watercolor sketches.
