Problems with your inserts

My first inserts that came with my Big Shot lasted 8 years and these new ones broke after just 100 shots. I doubt Sizzix lowered the quality of the record though - Sizzix is a great company. I'm wondering if the difference is in the precision metal spacer I've been using for the past few years - maybe that warps the inserts? I just do not know. I'm frustrated with having to change cutting plates so often, so I'm playing with self-healing cutting mats to replace the bottom plate.
