🔪 Sizzix Accessory: Enhanced Cutting Performance with Standard Cutting Pads - 1 Pair Review

I refer you to my review of the Sizzix Extended Magnetic Cutting Deck. These are the cutting pads that go together. You must have extended pads for the extended platform. Instructions for using the entire system are ON THE PLATFORM so you can't mess it up. Basically you put the platform in the machine, put a die on it, put paper on it, place the punch where it needs to be, cover everything with the second die and run it through the machine. Voila.

They work as expected with a multipurpose platform. There are two pieces in the pack. You put down the multiplatform, then one of these parts, then the embossing folder or stamp. Place paper (or whatever material you cut/emboss) on top and complete the "sandwich" by adding a second piece of solid acrylic. Run everything through your car and voila! My first inserts that came with my Big Shot lasted 8 years and these new ones broke after just 100 shots. I doubt Sizzix lowered the quality of the record though - Sizzix is a great company. I'm wondering if the difference is in the precision metal spacer I've been using for the past few years - maybe that warps the inserts? I just do not know. I'm frustrated with having to change cutting plates so often, so I'm playing with self-healing cutting mats to replace the bottom plate.

I bought these at a fantastic price not realizing that Sizzix had changed the way these records were made. The ends of the plates are beveled making it difficult to see where to place the punch when you want to make a partial die cut. These records have a softer feel than the original, that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that they're different. And they are quite deformed after a few days of use.
