Review on Enhanced CableCARD Receiver: Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 Dual Tuner by Nick Mitchell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It doesn't work and there is no customer service!

I've had the device since July 2013 and have been struggling with it the whole time. This is my first Revain review and I have given it enough time and tried to work with the company. Where to start!? It only works partially as advertised. He's not going to pull all the stations -- certainly not the main stations he advertises for. I wouldn't bother with Prime channels to be honest, but it didn't even pull all of my default channels. Customer service is non-existent. When you email or call, they will first walk you through their checklist. If that doesn't work, start over with the same checklist. If your issue is not resolved by this time, they will be brief - just 2 seconds to rudeness. They ask you to "work through" the process they gave you and "if you're still having trouble please call back". So of course you call back because it still doesn't work. Apparently there is another list of recommendations because I was told to get a "scanner" from the cable company. The scanner has a backstory. The guy on the phone kept telling me to scan the channels. I told him I've seen stations and still miss them. I used the Add Channels process and still didn't have all the channels I wanted. It kept repeating itself and I did the same. He suddenly had to go. So I continued to work on it myself, with the same result. When I called back, the new person told me to get a channel finder from the cable company. Have a scanner. I tried connecting it in several different configurations and the same channels that didn't go through were still missing. I've seen people complain about the WinTV-HVR 950Q being a smaller, non-HD version. It really worked which is why I decided to trust the company again and buy a dual tuner 2650. SAVE YOUR MONEY! The WinTV DCR-2650 doesn't work as advertised (and I've never used a second tuner - I'm not sure it even works).
