My old bootable SSD Samsung 850 EVO 250GB kept overflowing, so it's time for an upgrade. This is my first NVME drive and it didn't disappoint. Lots of storage space, nice and fast. Sure, there are faster NVME drives out there, but for general use you really don't need anything faster (and you probably won't notice much of a difference anyway). It was very easy to install into the system and I love that there are no power or data cables to fiddle with. A few counterarguments based on other people's reviews: 1) There is no screw to attach it to the motherboard in the kit. . This is not Western Digital's fault, stop blaming them or other drive manufacturers for this. The screw must be provided by your motherboard manufacturer (if you built your own system) or your system builder (if you bought a pre-built PC). 2) Cloning Software: Several buyers have complained that it doesn't include any software to clone your old PC. go to a new one. Free software is available and Western Digital could have advertised it better. They have a free version of Acronis True Image WD Edition software that anyone can download from their website. Personally, I'd recommend doing a clean install every time you change your boot disk to get rid of the old junk you don't use anymore and to improve the overall performance of your system. If you decide to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 10, get Microsoft's Media Creation Tool and use it to create a bootable USB drive. Just remember to connect it to a USB 2.0 port during installation. Using a USB 3.0 port sounds like it would be faster, but it isn't, it will hang up the installation process, trust me. I also recommend doing some research before you buy, a closer look at my motherboard manual would have saved me. small disappointment. Perhaps you are in a similar situation. My motherboard (Gigabyte Z170X - Gaming 5) has two M.2 slots. I could only get it to boot Windows from one of the slots, the other recognized the storage drive, it just wouldn't boot from it. The slot I have to use to boot also disabled 4 of the 6 SATA ports. on the motherboard (because the NVME drive was now using these PCI-E links for communication). This meant I had to reconfigure the way my other drives connected to the motherboard and ended up unplugging three of my other SATA devices as there was no connector. Again, this isn't NVME's fault; This is a configuration issue that I should have expected. Overall this is a great drive for the price and I plan on getting another one for the second M.2 slot on my board in the near future.
