I bought the Spot 2 for my wife and family/friends to follow the amazing sea adventure I had in September 2012. I set up Spot so that I can use one button to send my moving location and another button to send my current port location. Everyone reported that they received my email with the location on the map. As it was a 1000 mile journey from Corfu, Greece to the south of France I'm sure it will work great. Plus, I had the peace of mind that I had an SOS button handy if it ever worked. I now use this unit when out on ATV trails when out of cell coverage. Incidentally, the company made it very clear to me that the service would automatically renew unless I cancel it. Maybe they've changed, but they've been very professional with me.
