I didn't install most of this panel but I put the voltmeter in the car in the hole where the cigarette lighter used to be and connected it to a constant +12V Power supply so it was on all the time. I've found it only draws 8mA so I don't have to worry about battery drain. (car clock draws 4mA) So far this has saved me twice. The first time I broke the generator bracket and lost the charge. The voltmeter dropped from the usual 13.8 to 12.1 volts, which I noticed immediately. The second time the generator cable broke. This time it dropped to 11.5 because I hadn't noticed it for a while. But both times I was able to safely pull over to the curb, fix the problem and still have enough battery left to start again! It's really bloody bright. , well visible in daylight but too bright at night. I set it low, in a position normally hidden by the steering wheel, so that's not a problem for me. It would be ideal if it was dimmable, but it's really annoying! The panel contains all devices and even electrical connections. The only thing you need is a cable to connect everything.
