I appreciate some of the functional qualities of these outdoor pants. If you want large and spacious pockets for very bulky items, this is it. I can store everything I need for a day's hike. One issue I don't like is that its large side pockets are tapered with 3 bottom edges. This tend to "bunch" up items inside, making it difficult to quickly sort out items, unlike more flushed and flat bottomed pockets, where I can neatly arrange less bulky items. Compared to 5.11 and Helikon tactical pants, the CQR fabric also feels "heavier" or "rougher" on the skin. While there is stretch, the cut is already has a very loose fit, so this alone permits movement. But when hiking under bright sunshine under warm and humid weather (>80'F), I've noticed more labored movement over the thigh (due to the oversized-front pockets). I've also noticed that the fabric retains/absorbs more heat and doesn't breath (i.e. release moisture), as well, even under breezy conditions. In comparison, these pants lack the same function, fit & breathability of its competitors. Like the others, CQR has shown excellent stain or dirt resistance. With with respect to overall feel, comfort, and ease of movement in most conditions, 10 being highest:- Helikon Tactical: 10/10- 5.11 Tactical: 8/10- CQR Tactical: 6/10Biggest disappointment was their QC. The Velcro fasteners to both side pockets were not aligned, and seen as if the stitchers/seamstress were blind. If I align the Velcro, the pockets appear creased and look very poorly tailored (cheap). If I fold the flaps completely flat, the fit and look will look correct, but the velcro won’t be aligned and lint will easily attach to the exposed pieces. In summary, I'll mostly use it when conditions are below 80'F or while camping, but NOT for any extended day long hikes with high activity, while carrying a daypack or heavy load (25-40 lbs) in very warm conditions.
