My 4 year old loves it, every little thing is better with him. The downside is that sometimes the velcro gets stuck in her hair when it's up and we have to gently comb her hair and pull it out. She's had it for 7 months and I think it's leaking, not sure why or how it happened, it just stays in the freezer when not in use. It had a very slimy stain on it so I thawed it and washed it with dish soap, it dried and was fine so I put it back in the freezer and it got slimy again. So, after 7 months I order another one. My 3 year old picked one up too and chose the shark. He asks for it less often and usually wears it for shorter periods of time, but it makes him feel special and better. No problem if his short hair gets tangled in the Velcro. I really like that one side is soft so the cold doesn't get "too cold". I wish I didn't have to buy another one anytime soon, but it's more convenient than other ice packs and my daughter would be devastated if she had to wear her brother's shark instead of a unicorn.
