Nothing of the sort. If an AC plug fails in an outlet, I try to find a replacement without overpaying for another. You can find common ones, but usually the connector systems are different. This handy device allows you to cut the cord of the failed PSU and use it to connect the cord to the new universal one. Saves money and can be used again and again.
