Good quality for a basic set and very cool for a travel set

Overall I am happy with the pencils and the quality seems good. Pencil bodies are made of very smooth wood, free from cracks and roughness. The color is applied to the tip of the pencil and I found the tinted color to be a bit darker than the actual lead. The color names are written in Chinese and English on the top of the glass. The names appear in the order the pens are in the tin. There are no numbers or names written in English on the pencils. There's something in Chinese, but since I don't speak or read that language, I have no idea what's written there. I labeled each pencil so I know what color I used previously if I accidentally mix them up in the jar. Pencils are easy to sharpen if you have a good sharpener. I used a small portable and had no issues with breakage. Rule of thumb: Make sure your sharpener blades are sharp. Using a graphite pencil from time to time will help remove some of the colored pencil. What I really liked was that I was able to color in most of the drawing before my pencils needed to be sharpened again. There's a decent range of colors that would work well in a starter or base kit. I like that there are three shades of blue and green. I paint a lot of nature scenes and love the different shades of these colors. Some colors are very similar. For example, yellow chrome and yellow are not all that different. The color goes pretty smoothly. The blending is fine and I love how they layer. Good. I've found that some colors look creamier than others. Sometimes the creamier ones are a bit prickly and then smooth again. I didn't have a waxy build up like my Prismacolor Premier pencils sometimes do. A convenient hinged glass provides secure storage for pencils arranged in a single layer. I like this because one layer is much easier to work with and takes up less table space etc. The size of the tin, measured in inches, is 7 ¾ wide, 7 ¾ high and 3/8 deep. It's good for pick up and go or travel. I would love for gold and silver to be replaced with more pleasing and versatile colors. I use gold and silver in gel pens quite often; However, I rarely use these colors in colored pencils.
