Review on Cisco DPC3008 Cable Modem: Compatible with Xfinity/Comcast, Spectrum, AT&T, TWC, Cox, and Leading Internet Providers, DOCSIS 3.0 Modem by Dan Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great modem but a shame they sell refurbished modems claiming to be new.

I would give this modem 5 stars except for one small issue which I will address later. For the most part, this is a great modem. I bought it to replace a rented modem from TWC that was dropping my internet connection several times a day. During the time I had this Cisco modem, my internet didn't go down. And even though I only have standard internet, my connection speed seems slightly faster, although admittedly this is subjective. I'm also pleased with the company because they include a little pamphlet on how to overcome your cable company's resistance to a permit. You use your own modem. But despite all the praise, I call her about a small detail. I bought this modem "new" at a "new" price. On closer inspection, however, it is clear that this is a restored product. A small problem is that the connections loosen with use. When I squeeze the modem the connections break and the power plug even falls out the back of the modem as the spring tension in the plug hole is completely gone. Another detail is that according to the Cisco page for this modem, a manual should be included on a CD. Instead, the company put a sticker on the box stating that the online manual was more up-to-date than the CD. That may be true, but the fact that they sell a refurbished product as new is still a free giveaway. Anyway, I'll leave it because it's a huge improvement over the crappy TWC modem. But over time I will probably replace it with a NEW new modem.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
