This size is great for using at home and then attaching a shoulder strap to take with me on trips, which I often do. I love the idea of the adjustable compartments, which are actually made out of foam board. The problem with this design is that if you place them at certain support locations, they won't stay in the slots you put them in because there's nothing to keep them there. I wanted a long slot at the top for eye shadow containers and it was perfect. But there is only one place where you can place a divider for other compartments, leaving too much space in a long slot. Without the force of the items pressing against the divider, the side slot dividers fall out of place and are pretty much useless. In the end I just took them off. My cosmetics don't fit where they stay so I now have a cosmetic bag with 3 large compartments, although I was really hoping I had several smaller compartments. However, it's still a good quality bag minus the dividers. So if you don't need to adjust the space I would buy them. If adjustable compartments are important to you, I would choose a different bag.
