The phone must be on and its application open

Due to the way cell phones work, your phone must be unlocked and switched on and you must have an active/open application for this PKE in order for this system to be able to lock or unlock. The open app is the only way to access the phone's Bluetooth capability, at least for the iPhone. In other words, unless you find unlocking your phone easier than pressing a button on your key fob, the basic design is flawed. To be honest, when I tried it, it worked pretty well with my phone and the app open. I just find it a little silly to do that.
