For cross stitch I prefer DMC.
DMC cotton embroidery thread is the thread I use in almost all of my counted cross stitch projects. I like the consistency of the material and the color. I like that it separates easily and that most projects call for floss by color number. I've bought several DMC colors on a cone, not just skeins (although I buy both). I like the cone when I'm doing a project that uses a lot of the same color, even if it's a color I use all the time. I keep my buds in a cupboard in my workshop to protect them from light. With this amount of yarn it is important to preserve the color while reducing the risk of fading in the sun. Unless
