Review on BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Cordless Tire Inflator, πŸ”‹ Dual Power (Cordless & Corded), Tool Only (BDINF20C) by Reid Rickerson

Excellent portable blower, battery requires solid installation

This unit inflates just about anything to a maximum pressure of 160psi. For me, this device is mainly intended for tire mounting. I have had several cheaper inflators over the years and this is by far the best. While the rate at which a tire is inflated is about average; It's that convenience that makes it shine. Features The inflatable pump comes with multiple nozzles for inflating rafts, air mattresses, basketballs and of course car tires. The bus connector is a chuck, which I prefer to a chuck. There's a built-in pressure gauge that displays its readings on a small but bright LCD display. The device can be powered in 3 ways: 120 volt plug; cigarette lighter plugs; or with a 20-volt lithium-ion battery (sold separately). Working with the inflator isn't exactly intuitive at first, but it's easy enough once you get the hang of it. The idea is to choose a power source; then activate the digital display to set the desired PSI; and then turn on the device and it will inflate the tire to the parameters you need. What I really like is that as soon as a cartridge is connected to my tire, the current PSI is displayed. No need to fiddle with a separate pressure gauge to check PSI. Also, the unit will automatically stop at a slightly higher PSI than set to accommodate a slight air leak when the cartridge is removed. Battery Life I prefer battery life whenever I use this device. The main reason is convenience - there are no problems with the power chord. Also, I don't like using a cigarette lighter plug because the devices sometimes blow a fuse in my car, which is never a good thing. The Black and Decker 20V lithium battery (LBXR20) and accompanying 2Amp charger (BDCAC202B) are sold separately for just over $30 each. I think the price is worth it though. I can inflate all my tires to about 3-5psi in about 10 minutes. In addition, enough charge remains in the battery. And when the battery needs charging, it only takes about 30-45 minutes to fully charge. A few minor flaws. There are a few things about this inflator that could be improved. First of all, this is the connection of the battery. When I first connected the battery to my device, there was a clicking sound and the battery appeared to be fully connected. But I was alarmed when the device wouldn't turn on. At first I thought I had a defective device. But I reconnected the battery with some firm pressure and it worked. (You will only know the battery is connected when there is NO LOSS or movement between the battery and the rest of the device. And to do that you REALLY need to push the battery in with a little bit of force.) Another issue is that there is no place to store the plug too little cigarette lighter. Because it's underneath the device, the tendon tends to protrude slightly from below, forcing the device to stand at an angle. Initially I was interested in the Dewalt DCC020IB inflator, which is very similar to this block. However, I prefer the Black and Decker snap-on/lock-down cartridge to the Dewalt screw-in cartridge. Either way, this Black and Decker ticks all the right boxes - it's easy to use, runs on batteries and is well built. The few issues I have with it are minor at best and I'm very glad I found it at an affordable price.

Pros
