LMAO. I wasn't aware that a replacement remote was available for the Roku 1 and I literally struggled with the original remote for over a year. First I had to tap it with my palm for it to work. When it got worse, I had to remove the battery cover and, with spasmodic pressure, roll the batteries into the case. Response time to commands increased by 10 seconds and was inconsistent. I need my old Β£50 standard definition tv. As far as I know, Roku 1 is my only option. I'm glad to have it. But it is not easy. The replacement remote control arrived today. I've just used it now. Fortunately compared to the original remote I have to say that I didn't have to remove the battery cover to get it working. Command response times are faster, but still slow and inconsistent on some sites. He answers maybe 80%. The command takes a few seconds to run. Faster than the old one, but still painfully slow at times. The cable TV systems of the 1970's switched channels faster compared to this Roku/interchangeable remote. So overall, I'd say using this Roku 1 system has gone from excruciating to annoying using this replacement remote. better thanks Still hard work and I don't think I can see today's tech savvy generation with instant gratification using it. I canceled Sling because it was difficult to use with this system. Just too slow. (That wasn't the only reason I declined). YouTube worked a little better. I haven't tried amazon or netflix yet. so it got better. that's not great TWO DAYS LATER - upgraded my rating to three stars. I used it with Revain Prime the day before and it's not bad. Expect slower response times than if you had an HDTV and the bells and whistles of today's lightning-fast digital technology. But Prime is fine, and Netflix was fine last night too. I tried Sling again today (my subscription ends in a few days) and I'd rather bang my head against the wall than try again. Also, too funny for words, I had no luck trying to watch the Roku Free TV channel. Terrible terrible, another site for thugs. I won't try to see it again. Roku.you can't even connect to your website! Youtube is the slowest compared to Amazon Prime and Netflix but I can handle it. It's still better than the original and significantly better for use on Amazon and Netflix sites. I don't actually stream any other sites so I can't mention any others. I will not pay per view and will not stream other "free" sites due to ads. Five minute commercial why I cut the cord years ago. SECOND AND FINAL UPDATE: Awful time from YouTube. Last night and today I tried to browse my history and subscribed channels but couldn't. Every time I scroll right, the system goes to the Roku home page instead of the video I want to watch. Several times it magically navigated from YouTube to the Roku homepage without me even touching the remote! So now you know all the possibilities
