It only works if you plug it in to a power source, then it works GREAT!
There is a USB C socket and a built in USB C cord. The cord is for plugging in to your device and the socket is for powering it from a USB A to USB C mini cable. It wasn't very clearly labeled in the instructions, unless I missed it, but other than that, the little thing is compact and FEELs very durable with the aluminum case. It also works very well so far.
