I bought this for a 10 gallon planted tank. I already had a regulator, but there was no way to prevent nighttime CO2 dosing. It took some trial and error to find the right power supply. Since they were all I had on hand, I first tried both a 12VDC 1.5A power supply and a 12VDC 1.0A power supply, but after testing the solenoid with both power supplies 5 minutes, the solenoid was too hot to touch. I was afraid this would cause the solenoid to fail, so I used an old USB cable and an Apple 5V-1A power supply. I have found this to be sufficient to continuously energize the solenoid for a 10 hour cycle. After several hours of continuous powering (opening), the magnet was warm but not hot. The low pressure side of my system is 10psi and that's what the solenoid gets. As long as it doesn't leak, it's great.
