I recently broke my leg and my husband ordered it to help me take a shower. Unfortunately, it didn't seem very secure from the start. As my leg was very sore at first and I really couldn't balance, this chair was very scary to use. The seat is very narrow, and I quickly found that if I tried to move when I was balanced, I couldn't move forward or backward more than an inch or else the bench would start tipping. I don't know how it's rated at 500 pounds because I'm in the 200 pound range and it didn't seem stable or safe to me. I also couldn't use it to help balance myself when stepping over the edge of the tub because it was very unstable itself. The suction handle was useful, but I attached it to the tub, not the wall.
