Review on Premium BUYDEEM K2423 Tea Maker: 316 Stainless Steel & German Schott Glass Electric Kettle with Removable Infuser, Auto Keep Warm, BPA Free - 1.2L Capacity by David Butterfield

I am not happy with the design given the high cost.

Two stars instead of three because of the price. It's way overpriced compared to cheaper options given the features and the experience I've had using it. Basically, I thought I was getting something better than Mr Coffee or other cheaper options, but I didn't. I am very dissatisfied with my purchase and would like to return it and find something else. I only brew tea every few days, sometimes twice, so it was difficult to get an objective review of it in a shorter amount of time. I find the 30 day return window for such a device too short as sometimes it can be more than 30 days unless you have tea 24/7. Just last week I was sure that it wasn't just operator error that was causing all the problems, it was actually defective and ultimately not worth the price I paid. I had to give it time to see if the things I encountered were just user error or a defect, and it was in fact a defect in both the design and the materials used. Too bad they charge twice what it's worth but refuse to use materials that are expected in this >$100 price range. Problems that happen intermittently but keep coming back: 1) Water boils quickly for about 30-60 seconds with each tea set. I use something other than green tea or 175° and that green setting still gets it boiling then slows it down and beeps. This means that each tea set will bring the water to a boil. Stupid to have a separate cooking button then! And I never have the right temperature for every type of tea. That's the advantage of this model, which is why my biggest annoyance is that I got robbed. 2) Sometimes, not always, the buttons do not respond to their use after the first launch. You may not be able to set additional brew times. The appliance should automatically "keep warm" when you put the pot back on the base, but this isn't always the case. That happened to me 40% of the time. Even if I press the tea button again (not the stop/off button) it still turns off. Another cheat for the price as I wanted this feature. 3) The bottom is heavily soiled after a single use, and also has discoloration caused by overheated food or liquid in cheap pans. It shouldn't rub off that easily after just one use if it's food grade 304 stainless steel, which it's supposed to be. The only way I could get it clean was to use a stainless steel pad on the underside and scrub vigorously for a long time (not steel wool or anything with soap, just a stainless steel brush). ((UPDATE: I recently learned never to use a stainless steel scrubber on stainless steel as it removes the layer of oxidation that goes on to get the stainless steel in the first place and causes stains to appear sooner, more frequently and even open the door .for rust Only use Bar Keeper's Friend on stainless steel It removes the stains left on the bottom of these teapots after brewing tea just once, quickly and easily!)) But after cleaning, next use, it'll do stains again. Real stainless steel doesn't do that. This should only happen over time if not properly cleaned after each use as it reheats/cooks old leftovers, which I don't do. This should not happen after a single use. Made from cheap quality steel. The rubber seal/adhesive around the rim that connects the base to the glass leaves stains, but that doesn't bother me at all. False claims made by their stainless steel manufacturers. This was the second main reason I chose them over all the others because I wanted the best quality. Well I paid for it and it doesn't beat the cheapest deals out there. 4) For some reason they limit heat retention to 30 minutes after selecting boiling water. This is a useless period of time. I often need it to keep that temperature longer. So I have to start over. 60 minutes of warming up to prepare the tea is not enough for me considering how slowly I drink. I've found that when I'm ready for the next cup, it's always over an hour late and what's in the pot is cold. I have never managed to fill my mug with hot tea. There's no reason to take away the user's ability to select their preferred keep-warm time for each setting. For $110 it should be the same quality as a coffee pot and should keep you warm for at least 2-4 hours. It's not like this. 5) My lid is slightly damaged. The spout filter was not centered so the metal filter would not line up with the spout when the opposite side was properly aligned with the groove on the pot. This actually results in a significant reduction in flow and I only get a tiny trickle of liquid. I should try to get the spout centered by breaking the rubber on the other side of the lid which is grooved to fit the pot or remove the lid to pour. manufacturing defect. 6) The filter basket has stains on the bottom, but I expected that. I had no idea how difficult it is to remove stains. Again, this isn't the higher quality stainless steel we think is used. The positives are that it looks great on the counter because it's really nice when it's perfectly clean, the base and buttons give the impression that we have more control than we actually have. really and they are flat and smooth. The glass is easy to clean. Easy to avoid water getting into the middle of the bottom where the coils are when washing or rinsing. It's up to 40 oz. Brew occasional tea and keep warm for an hour. However, all teas are brewed at the boiling point. The design of the filter basket is beautiful. It fits snugly through the outer ring of the lid, so the lid itself can still be put on as if it weren't there. The non-slip bottom of the stand and kettle is good. I made a video of the issues last month and I have to search my camera roll to find them so I'll have to edit and post them later. This kettle is no better than the half price one and mine has a manufacturing defect. I am very upset they returned mine.
