Looking for Thermal Imaging Camera

I bought a Seek thermal imaging camera to look for thermal problems in residential areas such as insulation gaps behind walls, ceilings, floors. I've only used it sparingly so far, but it seems to show useful information. For example, considering an uninsulated pull-down attic door (hot summer climate in an air-conditioned home), the door will generally appear "hot" compared to the nearby insulated ceiling. This is useful, but the actual temperature of surfaces with Seek tends to be elusive. It has a small crosshair in the middle of the screen and a temperature number at the bottom, but it's pretty hard to tell exactly where the temperature reading is coming from. So I think Seek is good for showing a general temperature difference, especially when there is a fairly large temperature difference, like hot summer sun outside and chilled conditioned air inside. In addition to the Seek Imager, I have an inexpensive infrared sensor. Thermometer with a laser pointer, very handy for determining the surface temperature of a small point. This allows me to use the Seek thermal imager to scan a large area and find common potential problem areas, and then use an infrared thermometer to get the actual surface temperature. In living spaces it is also important to find openings through which moving air can transfer heat, e.g. B. around doors, windows or even sockets. I haven't seen how the Seek thermal imager can help with air leak detection. For me a good strong wind outside when I feel the door or window with my hand helped to find air leaks. Anyway, the Seek Imager was fun and along with an infrared thermometer and a physical exam for air leaks, it helped find heat problems in apartments. It worked for me as an introduction to thermal imaging. PS The battery seems to work quite well and the flashlight function is also quite bright.
