It's more of a cap that looks like a hat

It's more of a cap that looks like a hat. If you're buying it for a costume, that's fine, but if you like the old-school style, just buy a proper hat. The little black dots on the mesh are just curved brushes, easy to detach; I didn't like them so I took them off. It comes with a headband that goes through a loop at the bottom of the hat, but you can easily remove it with a hair clip.
