This is a 3-in-1 jacket system You can wear the lining or cover separately or together for extra warmth. I have ordered both blue shell/red lining and red shell/blue lining and both jackets are well made and a nice colour. I like the red liner more, it makes me look less messy than the blue liner. It's not bulky like other down jackets, but it's very warm. I wore it on a moderate hike in the 30's and the base layer lining is warm enough. Also gives me good wind protection. When I tried to put on both jackets it was too warm so I'm sure this jacket will stand up to colder temperatures. It's rated for temperatures as low as 0 degrees, but I haven't tested it for anything colder. Both are true to size, I ordered the small and it has enough room to move around or wear a sweater underneath without looking too loose. The shell has an internal drawstring to make the waist appear larger. It at least seems to be made out of some water repellent material, I tried splashing the lining with tap water and the water just overflowed. I assumed the outer shell would offer more water resistance. Overall very happy with this jacket. Keeps me warm and looks more stylish than a big down jacket. For less than $100, you can't beat it
