I used to prepare baby food and smoothies in a traditional tabletop blender. It wasn't efficient at all (constant scooping and cleaning) and created a lot of waste as the amount of food was very small. I'm a minimalist when it comes to gadget ownership, and I've been really struggling internally over whether or not I should buy an immersion blender. Well it was worth it for my kind of uses! No more moving and scooping of groceries to mess everything up! It was so easy to use and more powerful than I imagined (600w vs 500w on other top competitors). I can't recommend more than that, especially if you only need one blender in the kitchen and it's a space saver too.
