Bought 2 and both broke.

I remodeled 2 gates at home and wanted new fittings, so I bought 2 latches 6 months ago. Both new latches have failed. The bars don't seem to have enough metal in the screw hole closest to the latch and are broken in half. I reinstalled an old 50 year old gate lock. It's a little rusty but works fine. Maybe I paint.
