Never thought about the "spring anti-theft lock" but once I'd installed it, the button was very finicky when using it to release the chain. If you don't press it down just right, the little plate doesn't depress straight enough to release the chain. I was envisioning trying to get out of the door quickly in case of a fire and didn't feel comfortable that it would work reliably. So I broke off the plate part of the button. I guess my only complaint about this product probably isn't the product's fault. I have one of those standard mobile home back doors, you know they're kind of hollow in the middle like. I installed the lock to keep my 3 year old from opening the door and going outside without anyone knowing. Well, it only took her little 28 pound body one good shove on the door when the chain stopped it from opening for it completely come out of door. I got the black version, and it's Beautiful! Very Sturdy and high quality feel to it. And I love the push button feature to release the chain. I didn't think I would, but it's very easy and does add an extra measure of security. Plus, the picture sort of made it look like there was only one screw hole for the side with the chain, but there are actually two, the second one is located under the hanging chain. These were super easy to install, and they look nice on the wall. My only complaint is that it is a little hard to undo them with one hand. I never considered that even shopping around but you don't realize how often you need to unlock with one hand.

I am a stay at home mom of a 2 year old and a 4 month old. I found this very easy to install alone and very efficient in keeping my toddler in the lani. The extra push button to make it a little harder to unlock the door is a great added feature and assures me that even if he climbs up and can reach the lock he won’t be able to unlock it

Having determined toddlers, this was the answer. Easy for an adult to open one handed, but hard enough for the kids. Durable, hasn't broken despite many attempts by the kids to run out the front door when they shouldn't.

We bought this to keep our toddler out of the basement. So far, it excels at this task. I don't know if I'd buy it to help secure an exterior door against a determined intruder . but a chain lock wouldn't be my first choice for that job anyway.

This product seemed quite sturdy, and kept my energetic toddler indoors for about a month. One day after the return period expired, my two year old opened the door, tugged on the chain (like he did every day) and a piece of a chain just straight up broke and fell out! He’s TWO, so I don’t think he could have broken a NORMAL steel chain. Meaning this is probably some low quality metal. He ran out into the streets! Luckily I caught him in time. Received the chain door guard. Feel flimsy. The button press to "unlock" sometimes catches the latch.Pros:- easy to install- have a locking mechanism for child safety- cheapCons:- flimsy- the lock is very thin and may cut you- locking mechanism can catch the latch when trying to open- latch can get stuck if setup vertically.- the screws are terrible. Keep stripping and can snap off

If I could give 10 stars I would.The way that it's designed makes it very difficult for little ones (who can open the lock and deadbolt with two hands yep) to open from the inside and great added bit of security from the outside.Great price and easy to install.

I bought this in hopes to keep my toddler in and it works great. I use to have a chain lock on my old townhome that my daughter (toddler at time) would use a broom and unlock it but luckily this one takes a little more work then just pushing it over.
