Review on HENCKELS Forged Synergy 8-inch Bread Knife - Black/Stainless Steel for Enhanced SEO by Adam Stone

"Forged Synergy " does not mean FULLY FORGED!

WARNING: Please note. These knives are NOT FULLY FORGED. The product name is intentionally misleading. I asked Gemini customer service representatives, are "FORGED SYNERGY" knives made of solid, fully forged steel? They did not respond to this inquiry and did not help resolve my confusion caused by their misleading marketing practices! I also asked what is meant by "made of German quality steel" and what type of steel is used. They replied that it was "their own secret"! This vague answer leads me to conclude that they do not use the same "high quality German steel" (X50 CR Mo V15) used in their twin "made in Germany" or Henckel's "made in Spain" products. ZWILLING must be careful not to hurt sales by telling the truth and disclosing its true features and specifications. Patented Secret Steel made with unspecified hardening processes is used only in FORGED SYNERGY knives. 1 forged blade and forged bead then welded to a rat tail of unknown composition covered with a stainless steel base clamped on the sides with an ABS plastic handle 3. This knife is designed to transition smoothly from blade to handle. I say that the weld is not a smooth transition. This is a marketing lie to trick you into believing that this product is a complete fake. In fact, everything is almost entirely made, welded, assembled and finished by robots in CHINA! Expect inferior performance and durability compared to Zwilling's top-of-the-line, fully forged, German-made clear steel knives. Poor performance is a direct by-product of using "patent secret" steel that is not made from a continuous piece of steel by advanced solid forging or ice quenching. This applies to all (not all) knives of the FORGED SYNERGY series! WARNING BUYER/BUYER ATTENTION, in this case the cheaper "FORGED SYNERGY" Chinese knives made of "German's own secret steel" use marketing advertising instead of higher quality steel. This practice is deliberately designed to trick consumers into misassociating a product with a product. perceived quality with more expensive German made Zwilling and Spanish Henckles premium products My conclusion: if the knife features and price are too good to be true, they are probably inferior products! 50% off Suggested Retail Price ensures good performance and value for money This less commonly used proprietary steel serrated utility knife doesn't lose its sharpness as quickly as the thin bladed versions because it features serrated blades. Multiple sharp points touch the cutting board first, keeping it sharp longer. fit (for mid-air cutting) FORGED SYNERGY 3" skinny blade paring knife, poorly finished and working Santoku 5" skinny blade and to a lesser extent the most suitable 5.5" skinny boning knife (working knife which I rarely use use frequently) is that they don't stay sharp for very long with daily use I believe these imperfections are caused by poorly forged and underhardened steel where sharpening to a 15 degree bevel results in poor edge strength On a bread knife I'm more concerned about the durability of the bead against tang welds, the stress point of the 8" long blade. On the plus side, its thickness, weight and length give it a good overall weight balance combined with a very heavy and comfortable knife. If you just want a bread knife then this is the best knife in the Forged Synergy series. It has several advantages over all other FORGED SYNERGY knives mentioned above which are extremely unbalanced and have very heavy handles which causes this disadvantage. If you're looking for always-sharp, fine-edged butcher knives and can't handle the need to sharpen your knives on a weekly basis, I recommend looking elsewhere or spending a lot more money if you want the Spanish-made Henckels Classic/Christopher Kimball series or the German can buy series. The Zwilling Pro or Pro S series. Both are very good knives that use the excellent X50 Cr Mo V15 steel. inherits the one-piece, fully forged construction and its superior steel quality! The Zwilling Pro Series adds ice hardening and advanced forging to the same steel, further improving and extending tool life, initial sharpness and edge retention.
