This is a great little bench with lots of storage space. INSTALLATION took about 35 minutes with the supplied Allen key, using a cordless drill and Allen bit it took me about 35 minutes to drive the screws into the threaded inserts and then using the Allen key to tighten them. All you need to assemble are the legs and 2 lower shelves, the bench comes pre-assembled. THE PILLOW IS COMFORTABLE, HEIGHT AND FLESH Approximately 1-3/4 inch thick, the pillow is made of thick, firm memory foam rather than plush and smooth. It is comfortable to sit on. for a long time without my butt hitting a tree. This is the same height as my dining chairs, but because the foam is thick and strong, I sit about an inch higher than my dining chairs. This is a comfortable height for me at 5ft 8" and for my husband at 6ft 2". Felt pads are pre-installed on its legs, and it stands upright without swaying, well, at least on a level floor. When you sit down, it's rock hard when you tighten the screws. VINYL TOPPING This is a gloss, low texture, multicolored brown vinyl. It reminds me of what the old bar stools were covered with. The good thing is that it simply wipes away stains without leaving stains like a cloth. If you have this by your entryway or hallway where he sees a lot of action, you'll appreciate it. SOLID WOOD STRUCTURES are harder to find these days with so much furniture made from laminated MDF falling apart with use or being moved you don't need to worry about that and if your decor changes it can be removed and restored, varnished or reupholstered. The lacquer is satin. UNDER SEAT STORAGE To be honest I didn't know from the list that the seat folds, well it does. Useful 2-1/2" depth perfect for hats, gloves and umbrellas. Recessed hinges hold the lid on its own. Can be used anywhere. If you're using it to store shoes, note that the shelves aren't very deep, leaving larger shoes dangling by the toe or heel.I'm glad I found real solid wood furniture that will last for a long time decades if you take care of it.Hope this was helpful,thanks!
