Positively surprised how well made it is for the price, solid wood as described. I can easily fit over 14 pairs of shoes using the floor as a third tier for flats and slippers. Sitting on it is very firm, two people can use it at the same time. Self assembled in 10 minutes with an Allen key provided by the manufacturer, very easy assembly.

This is a lot better than I expected. One review said the seat was unbearable, but that's not too bad. The seat is as comfortable as a shoe seat could be, and the fact that it also has a small storage compartment (fits my sunglasses and hats) is a huge bonus. This bench is much sturdier than you might expect. It can easily support a person's weight, although upon viewing it almost looks like it's more of a decoration. I decided to attach just one of the shelves from below instead of two. It gets very crowded on two shelves to put any shoes on it. It can be installed by one person - the only difficulty is attaching the legs to the seat, which requires the seat to be balanced with the lid open. My husband assembled it in about half an hour. I took a nap, woke up, and there was a decent bench in the hallway to put your shoes under while sitting. It looks really nice there. This is a great little bench with lots of storage space. INSTALLATION took about 35 minutes with the supplied Allen key, using a cordless drill and Allen bit it took me about 35 minutes to drive the screws into the threaded inserts and then using the Allen key to tighten them.
