My husband assembled it in about half an hour. I took a nap, woke up, and there was a decent bench in the hallway to put your shoes under while sitting. It looks really nice there. Although it's not very convenient. The "cushion" is quite hard, so sitting on it longer than necessary to put shoes on may not work. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it's definitely uncomfortable. When I ordered it I wasn't aware that there was storage space under the seat. If we put that in the closet, the socks will fit in there. Now it's a good place for cat toys. I just asked my husband and he said it all connects easily. The top cover and hinges were already together so all you have to do is attach the legs and shelves and you're done. They even included extra screws and stuff in case the cat hits one of them under the fridge. I love it!
