I have a 3 gallon aquarium. The first day I used it, it seemed to hold a steady 82 degrees, which was the absolute limit of what I wanted and still a far cry from the promised 76-78 degrees. But I said to myself, as long as this temperature remains stable, I will keep it. On the second day the temperature rose to 84 degrees. And that was the end of this unfortunate heater. That happens all too often with those pre-installed heaters. It's awful how awfully they're made. I will never again have a heater that doesn't have a manual temperature control.
