Unfortunately they rust: Paring knife

When I first bought these knives I really liked them, but after a few uses they rust badly. Whether I wash them by hand or in the dishwasher, they still rust, which is why they're not stainless steel. However, they are sharp and do a good job. I brought SOS pads to them to remove the rust. I bought two extra sets for Christmas gifts and now I feel bad knowing they will rust.
