It was covered in shipping oil, it looked like I would never be able to clean it. As far as tuning goes, it was easy once I put the oil in the right places. The legs aren't as wobbly as others have said, I put them on with a hammer to make them fit snugly against the saddle plate. The stitch length is too long for me, but you can shorten it with a simple adjustment. The spool of thread that came with the kit wasn't the largest. It unraveled every time I tried to sew with it. I bought #69 nylon to use and it worked great. I used a piece of skin that I had to sew together and it's worked great so far.
